Help My WP is run by Syed Shahzaib Hassan. This page explains what data this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to cover me legally at your expense.
The short version
This site collects almost nothing. If you submit the consultation form, I get what you typed. Beyond that, standard server logs record visits. There are no third-party advertising cookies on this site today, and the free tools send nothing anywhere.
What I collect
When you use the consultation or contact form. Your name, email address, site URL, hosting provider, and whatever you write in the message fields. I need this to answer your question. It is stored in this site’s database and sent to me by email through Brevo, the service that handles this site’s mail. I do not sell it, share it, or add you to a mailing list without you asking.
When you just read the site. Standard server logs — IP address, browser, pages visited, referring page — kept on my host’s normal schedule. These are ordinary web-server records, not a tracking profile.
When you use the free tools. Nothing. The salt key generator, robots.txt generator, and .htaccess builder run entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to this server, stored, or logged. You can verify this by opening your browser’s network tab while using them.
Cookies
Essential cookies. WordPress sets cookies only if you log in. These keep the site working and carry no tracking value.
Analytics. This site does not currently run third-party analytics. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the tool and describe its cookies before it is switched on.
Advertising. This site does not currently display third-party ads, and sets no advertising cookies. If advertising is added in future, this section will be updated in full to describe the advertising cookies used — including Google AdSense and the DoubleClick cookie — and your opt-out options at Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info/choices, and a consent banner will be shown where required.
Affiliate cookies. Some links on this site — mainly on the Resources page and inside relevant guides — are affiliate links. Clicking one may set a cookie with that company so they know the referral came from here. It does not change what you pay. Full details are on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Embedded content
Articles may embed content from other sites — videos, code demos, images. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that other site directly, and those sites can set their own cookies and track your interaction with the embed. I have no control over what they collect.
How long data is kept
Consultation submissions are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Server logs rotate on my host’s standard schedule. If a newsletter is added later, subscriptions will be kept until you unsubscribe, with an unsubscribe link in every email.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can email me at hello@helpmywp.com and ask me to tell you what data I hold about you, send you a copy, correct it, or delete it. I will do it, and I will not ask you why.
If you are in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you these rights formally, plus the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale. I do not sell personal information to anyone, in any jurisdiction.
Children
This site is aimed at people who build and maintain websites. It is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect data from them.
Who processes data on my behalf
- Hostinger — hosts this site and its database
- Brevo — sends the form notification and any future newsletter
Any advertising or analytics providers added later will be named here at that time.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and I note what changed. I will not quietly rewrite it.
